If I could imagine a world in which my wife enjoyed whiskey this is the bottle I pick as her favorite. Red Breast or let’s just say it, “Robbin,” is an Irish whiskey, 12 years old and 55.8%. Irish whiskey is unique in the way it’s distilled; they use a pot still, which embarks more flavor and mouthfeel on the palate. It’s an old school method, more costly, and messier than your traditional column distillation. However, this Redbreast is amazing, even with the higher proof; you don’t taste the burn in your throat like other higher proofs.

I rarely give flavor notes when I drink whiskey because taste is subjective and I don’t want to come off as I prick if I taste something you don’t. That being said, many people find notes of biscuit, butter, and softer bready flavors on the pallet. I could get behind those notes but let’s be clear. When I called this whiskey a favorite of my wife in an alternate dimension, in no way would I describe her as soft or buttery or biscuity. I leave that to the whiskey. Cheers
