Ok, just hold on. I know this is one that packs a punch but hopefully I warned y'all beforehand. This is from 13th Colony Distillery in Americus, Ga. One of my absolute favorites, but I am a fan of high proof whiskey too. I put this on our list for a few reasons; one being that it’s local to our state. Kentucky is the home of bourbon but Georgia makes some damn good stuff too. This whiskey is aged 8 years in a barrel, then taken out and put into another new barrel and aged another 2 years. Those 2 extra years give it this dark coffee color and the second barrel gives this huge oak woody note that I love.

This has become my favorite pour in my collection. The high proof makes this whiskey a once a night or maybe once a month pour, but that makes it a special occasion pour in my opinion. I hope the heat is not too off putting, this whiskey is meant to be sipped like hot coffee. I have never added water to my drinks but for this one I might make an exception to see how it opens up at a lower proof. Again, I hope you enjoy today’s drink, sorry if it ruined your pallet but if moonshiners can do so can we. Cheers
